The solution to "Slow Start" is "No Stop"... SSG Noh Kyung said, "I didn't put the ball down after the season."

Born in 1984, Noh Kyung-eun of SSG is turning 41 this year. He is a veteran player who will play in his 20th season after being nominated by Doosan through the first round of the 2003 KBO Rookie Draft. Still, he is second to none in performance. He had eight wins and five losses and 38 holds with an ERA of 2.90 (27 earned runs in 83 ⅔ innings) in 77 games last year, becoming the first player to hold 30 holds for two consecutive years, the oldest player in the league. It was his first individual title in his long career.

After the end of the season, SSG granted him a free agent of up to 2.5 billion won (approx. Noh Kyung-eun has no intention to stop, either. This is why he is still sweating profusely in the spring camp. In the first camp bullpen session in Florida, the U.S., his maximum fastball speed reached 146 kilometers per hour, which made him a hot topic of conversation.안전놀이터

When this reporter met Noh after moving to Okinawa, Japan, for the second camp, he smiled awkwardly and said, "We are not in the stage to increase our speed. I am not an athlete who can hit more than 150 kilometers just by doing more. My goal is to throw the ball like now, and I have no greed," adding, "I am focusing on improving my sense of play in the actual match. I think we should focus on control and breaking ball pitching."

Nevertheless, there is no denying that it is a good sign. What was the secret? "Every year, campers try to fill up what they lacked last year. In that sense, this time, I have maintained my arm (condition) since the end of last season," he hinted. "When I was preparing and re-building, I tended to start slow as I struggled to find the balance that I had forgotten," he said. "This year, I kept the ball to this point in order to prevent that and to make 100 percent of the ball from the beginning."

He explained that if good results continue steadily, it can be a fixed routine. "I think it's a success in the first place. At first, it came out to 143km and 146km, so I felt that I made a good choice. I'm going smoothly without any pain right now," he added.

Stamina could be a challenge. "If I were a starter, I wouldn't be able to do that. I know because I've been a starter, but a starter needs to train a lot without touching the ball. I'm doing this because I'm a middle pitcher right now. I don't know where the baseball technique ends," he said.

As a veteran, he can hardly ignore the weight of a year that is different from others. "When I am young, I can give them another chance and watch even if they slow down for a year, but not now. As I get older, I get obsessed with the fact that if I don't do well, it ends. That was the motivation to not skip exercising," he said. "I heard that I extended my career (with this FA) by up to three years, but there is no point in continuing this in the second division. I will have to watch them for a year at a time to survive in the first division," he said.

He also has a unique milestone waiting for him. He has 86 wins and holds overall, meaning he has a symbolic number of 100. "Winning should be luck, to be honest. I think I won seven to eight games every year, and I was really lucky," Noh said. "If you play more games, you can get more wins. I want to play more games than innings to pitch."
